Jared Leto Again Responds to Rumors He’ll Play The Joker

Jared Leto Suicide Squad Rumor Joker Suicide Squad: Jared Leto Again Responds to Rumors Hell Play The Joker
When Warner Bros. announced their DC Comics movie schedule, they revealed quite a few surprises. Among them, the fact that, while films for Wonder Woman,The Flash and Aquaman are indeed on the way, it’ll be two to three years before they arrive in theaters. But in the meantime, Batman v Superman is still on schedule for early 2016, and the next project in line is that of Suicide Squad.
Until a few months ago, a Suicide Squad film was very much in limbo. After almost getting a greenlight a couple years ago, it was put on hold so Warner Bros. could focus on developing Justice League. Then, more recently, David Ayer (Fury) was tapped to direct the project, Margot Robbie reportedly joined the cast as Harley Quinn and Will Smith, Tom Hardy, and Jai Courtney were in talks for key roles.
At this point in the game, no casting news is official, but Jared Leto is once againcommenting on the rumor that he’s joined the cast as the Joker.
In an interview with THR, Leto was questioned about his upcoming return to acting after taking a year-long break to go on a world tour with his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars. When asked if his next major role will be the Joker for Suicide Squad, the actor only had this to say: “I’ve sworn to keep my mouth shut.”

And so it would seem that there is definitely something happening between Leto andSuicide Squad. Earlier this month, he also addressed the rumors with MTV by saying,“You know, there’s a film called Fight Club, my friend. And you know what the first rule is, don’t you?” Whether Leto is still in talks (and thus can’t confirm) or has already been cast (and waiting to be officially announced), we don’t know, but saying he can’t talk about it essentially means there’s something to talk about.
With a few more roles left to be cast, we probably won’t hear anything official until the new year.
But what do you think, Screen Rant readers? Are you sold that Jared Leto will be the next Joker? Do you think we’re just waiting on the cast to be complete? Let us know in the comments.
Suicide Squad will be in theaters on August 5, 2016.
