Of Marvel Studios’ 2015 releases, it’s safe to say The Avengers: Age of Ultron is more highly anticipated than Ant-Man right now. The latter’s been fighting something of an uphill battle, buzz-wise, since the departure of original director Edgar Wright. As for promotional material from the film, fans have only seen a poster for Ant-Manas well as footage that was shown exclusively to those who attended the movie’s San Diego Comic-Con panel.
However, filming wrapped on Ant-Man – now with Peyton Reed (The Break-Up) at the helm – earlier this month, on December 5th. Now it seems it won’t be long before a trailer will be released for the second of Marvel’s 2015 blockbusters.
The Alberta Film Ratings board recently classified the Ant-Man trailer, giving it a PG rating and, in the process, revealed that the trailer will be one minute and 48 seconds in length. Generally film trailers are classified a week or two before they are released to the public such as recently classified trailers like Entourage and In the Heart of the Sea.
Since Alberta Film Ratings classified the Ant-Man trailer on December 23rd, it will likely premiere soon, though not before the holidays are over. If the trailer premieres in theaters it may be tied to Strange Magic, the upcoming released from Lucasfilm, another Disney-owned studio. However, there’s a strong chance the Ant-Man trailer will debut alongside Marvel’s new television series, Agent Carter, during the show’stwo-hour premiere on January 6th.

Considering Marvel planned to release the first Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer with an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it doesn’t seem too far off base for the Ant-Mantrailer to premiere with Agent Carter. Also, as previous reports hinted that Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) will appear in Ant-Man, the trailer debuting with the show makes all the more sense.
We won’t know for sure when the Ant-Man trailer will premiere until a more official report is released, but new promo art for the film may be able to tide fans over. The art, first seen on the website for British character licensing firm Aykroyd & Sons, features the first official look at Yellowjacket a.k.a. Darren Cross, played by Corey Stoll (The Strain).

Although the Ant-Man suit that Paul Rudd will don in the film was revealed along with the poster at SDCC, the Yellowjacket suit that Stoll will wear has (mostly) been kept under wraps. The version of Yellowjacket in this promo art seems to confirm thecharacter design for Darren Cross’s suit that leaked a few months ago.
Since very few official images – and no footage whatsoever – for Ant-Man have been released to the general public, the premiere of the film’s trailer will give fans a much better impression of what to expect from Reed’s movie. At the very least, viewers will get an idea as to how all these different bits and pieces will come together in the final movie.
Ant-Man will premiere in theaters on July 17th, 2015.

  1. I'm so excited for this movie! I wonder when will the trailer be publicized? Because aside from the suit that Ant Man will be wearing, I wanted to see the filming locations that this movie took place.
