Even though Warner Bros. and DC Comics are only now getting their superhero movie universe off the ground, they have an ambitious lineup of films planned out until 2020, and they are certainly starting things off with a big bang. 2016 will kick off the DCMU (DC Movie Universe) with Batman V Superman, which will soon be followed by the first ever supervillain team-up film, Suicide Squad. Soon after that, in 2017, we will get the first Wonder Woman movie and the first installment of two planned Justice League movies.
Zack Snyder will direct Justice League, and there’s already a handful of DC superheroes confirmed for the film – Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Mamoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and Flash (Ezra Miller). But other than that, there’s little we know about Justice League 1 or 2, largely because the project is still taking shape.
In a rumor being reported by Techtimes it’s being said that the script work for Justice League has revealed a problem for DC and WB:
The information states that folks who have read the script complained about a number of things, such as the script being too long or even too complicated for the average moviegoer. Comic book fans who know the lore might not have an issue with it, but fans are the minority here.
First of all, this RUMOR must be taken with a grain of salt. Techtimes sources “rumors circling the Internet,” which is really just a fancier way of saying “we heard this somewhere totally unreliable.” Since the time of writing this, there have been no corroborative sources to confirm this info.
The rumor report goes on to say that Brainiac is indeed the villain of Justice League. However, that could just as easily be the site once again pulling from “rumors circling the Internet” a few months back, when it was being heavily circulated thatBrainiac is the Justice League villain. Of course, Techtimes has added a bit of a further twist, in regards to how Brainiac could be portrayed onscreen:
Apparently, this person is Vril Dox, who is the original identity of Braniac in The New 52 comics. It makes sense for Brainiac to show up because the rumor claims the movie, currently, is codenamed Justice League: Brainiac’s Saga, and it will be the first time we get to see Brainiac on the big screen.
In case you don’t know, Vril Drox is a character in DC Comics who has an extensive history, but the long-short of it is that he used to be a descendant of the original Brainiac, but due to the changes of DC’s New 52 comic reboot, Vril Drox is now the alien who became the entity known as Brainiac.
What this would mean for the Justice League movie (which we’re hoping is NOT subtitled Brianiac’s Saga) is that Brianiac would likely be presented as an organic alien humanoid in order to allow for big-name casting – not to mention, a character for that actor to actually develop – rather than just an A.I. entity who takes form as CGI androids and such. That latter scenario is much too close to Avengers: Age of Ultron- something DC/WB is likely going to avoid if (and only IF) Brainiac is indeed the Justice League villain.
But remember: NONE OF THIS IS CONFIRMED. Just another day of Internet chatter. That being said: do you think a Justice League movie could possibly be too loyal to the source material and DC Comics mythos?
